We're a Ski Club - plus a whole LOT more!
The Fresno Ski Club is made up of a diverse group of individuals that have a few things in common. First is a thirst for outdoor alpine activity. Whether it's making the short trek to see our friends at Sierra Summit, getting off to a weekender in Tahoe, or spending an entire week taking in everything a world class ski resort in Utah, Colorado, Oregon, Canada, etc., has to offer, members of the Fresno Ski Club crave to go wherever there is an opportunity for fresh tracks and fun in the snow.
When the snow melts, these same crazed folks are often seen hiking, biking, boating, or perhaps taking in the opening of a local art show, concert, or paying a visit to a winery. The Ski Club is a social organization that gives every member the opportunity to participate in organized outings the year around.
Another common trait within the group is a bit of wanderlust. Call it a love for travel. Every winter we organize at least three or four trips to Tahoe that leave on Friday late afternoon and return Sunday evening. We have at least three, longer, out of state trips each winter. Occasionally, a European or International vacation is thrown in for the truly insane, or the wonderfully sane, depending upon your perspective. Yes, there's something for everyone. Some members, after skiing together for years, or in some cases having just barely met, have ventured off on their own trips, with as few as a couple, or as many as thirty people from both within and without the club. Those mavericks!
Throughout it's history, the Fresno Ski Club has been a source for meeting people with like interests, varied as they may be, with resulting friendships, social contacts, and lifelong partnerships formed on an ongoing basis. It's a friendly group. All skill levels of skiers and snowboarders are to be found within the club, from the beginner novice to highly skilled experts. Some members are just learning the basics and others are relearning those skills which may have lain dormant for a year or two, or three, or ten. There is no need to be shy, even if you have forgotten how to snowplow! There is plenty of resident expertise you can observe, emulate, and from which you will ultimately learn.
